The Center for Academic Information Assistance (hereafter CAIA) plans to be a 21st century general information center to assist the research of students and faculty in answering the call of society for the school to become information-oriented.
The CAIA, established in 1991 at the same time as the university, installed the VAX/11-780 and computerized all the administrative jobs. The CAIA extended the system into Alpha Server 2100 System and built data base of all the administration in March, 1996. The CAIA offered E-mail service in 1997 and bought the Sun Enterprise 450 System in 1999 to give better service in its effectiveness and quantity. The center added Network equipments such as Cisco Router 7206, Catalyst 3524, and 10 Mbps exclusive line to extend its facilities to the level of Giga bps, to meet increasing Internet and Network request, and to make off-campus connection more convenient.
