The department prepares professional sports teachers and leisure service managers for careers in service delivery and management in the recreation and sport industry, as well as in community arts and therapeutic recreation. This department provides a sport and leisure curriculum to enable students to become qualified and highly trained professionals. The department maintains a strong foundation in sports studies that provides depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural context of sports. The relationships between physical activity in human beings and various sciences are emphasized. The program is designed for those students who plan to work in community physical education settings such YMCAs, YWCAs, sports clubs, and camps.
